Welcome Back! "Hang In There"

Hello Everyone,

It's been over three years since I have posted on by blog; crazy isn't it! I am no longer in high school, and have moved onto University. Life has been busy but fun at the same time. Over my absence of blogging, I have not stopped crafting; my passion for creating and "Cricut-ing" never seemed to stop. As you can see, thanks to Jessa from Caked Designs, my blog has a new layout and name: Krafty Kyle Designs. Doesn't it look great?!

Now onto my future plans for this blog. The bottom line is I want to start posting on my blog again! Yipee :) I am going to aim for at least ONE post a week and work from there. That being said, I am only 95 followers away from 500; once we reach 500 I have a mystery giveaway planned, so don't forget to invite your friends to visit and follow my blog. Remember you can always follow me on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, or email me directly (links on the right).

Now, onto today's card. I re-created a card that I loved from Kristina Werner. The card is simplistic and let me experiment with my Inktense watercolour pencils.
I stamped the cute dog image onto watercolour paper with StazOn ink, so the water would not make the colour bleed. I coloured the darkest part of the image with my Inktense watercolours, and blended the colour out with my waterbrush. The background was made by brushing Inktense watercolours where I wanted the sky to be; very simple!

I hope everyone enjoyed the card I shared today; it feels great to be back to blogging. As always, feel free to comment and/or email me if there are any questions regarding todays project or the future of my blog.

  1. Welcome back Kyle! And congrats on being a college student! Are you living on campus or commuting from home? (I can't imagine a dorm room having much space for paper crafting supplies, but you never know.) Did you have any challenges stamping on watercolor paper? You card looks pretty good, so I assume not. I'm always on the lookout for the perfect all-purpose paper that will get good results from many different inking techniques - stamping with dye or pigment inks, coloring with alcohol pens like Copics, watercoloring, etc.. I'm not sure that such a paper exists, but I'll keep looking!

    1. Hi Susan! Yes, I am still living at home so I still have all my crafty supplies. As for the watercolour paper, I use the Artist's Loft Watercolour Pad (artist level 2) that I buy from Michaels. It's super thick (140lbs) and holds colour decently - I find that if I lightly spray my paper before colouring, it works a lot better. In addition, I have used this paper and coloured with my Copic markers!!! It's fairly inexpensive, so check it out. The only downside is that the paper is an off-white colour... so if you are looking for a 100% pure white cardstock, this is not it. Hope that helps :)
